We love the classic photos, but why stop there?
South Charlotte seniors have so many opportunities for creative and unique senior portraits and cap and gown sessions. Let me walk you through this college decision session that covered so much more.

Where to take Senior Photos in South Charlotte
Okay. so first of all, they rolled up with a suitcase.
I have always loved incorporating props into photoshoots, especially senior sessions, but never have I ever expected anyone to bring a suitcase full of sentimental props. Other photographers may have seen that and panicked. I was GIDDY.
I had already done senior photos for Rayley in the fall, but now that she had made a college decision (NC State - Go Pack!!) and had received her cap and gown, she wanted to add on some new photos. We knew ahead of time that we wanted to include some college props like a pennant and an outfit with an NC State t-shirt, but they didn't stop there.
Rayley and her mom picked out some childhood memorabilia to include. My mama heart was melting.
My mind immediately turned to:
What toys will my child bring to her senior session that she is currently playing with at 5 years old?
*Cue the waterworks*
Creating a cap and gown photo session that feels like YOU requires some creativity.
Rayley and her mom had lots of props and said that I could use as many of them as I wanted but they didn't all need to be included. This is the mindset that allowed space for creativity AND allows for a fun photo session experience. Every time I have someone in front of my camera, I want to capture memories and experiences, not just forced poses for a perfect picture.
So between my things I brought and the things they brought, we were quite the sight walking around downtown Monroe. There's a lot of variety for photos in any downtown location, and for South Charlotte locals, it is really cool to spend time in small towns like Monroe, especially if the place has special meaning to you. There are other small towns in the area that would be fun to do photoshoots like Waxhaw, Matthews, and Belmont. Uptown Charlotte is a great spot too, but I know that a lot of South Charlotte locals (myself included) spend very little time in the heart of Charlotte, so I love recommending these small town areas that feel much more like home.
Okay, back to business. In high school, Rayley had quite the volleyball career, so of course we included photos with a volleyball and some sneakers that she had bedazzled with State colors. The perfect girly and sporty combo if you ask me!
So, to all my graduating seniors in the greater Charlotte area, especially those in south Charlotte where charm is abundant and location options are endless, let this be your sign.
Do the spring senior session. Do the cap and gown session. Do the college decision session.
BUT
Make. It. Yours.
Cookie cutter photos are out, unique senior photos are in, and I would love to help you create lasting memories. And seniors? If you don't see the importance of taking so many pictures in this season, please, look in your mom's eyes as she is asking you to take photos or asking you to bring the childhood stuffy. You will always be her baby, and you are growing up way too fast. Take the photos for her.
Senior photos are absolutely for the senior who is graduating, but equally these photos are for the ones who raised you. Graduating from high school may feel like no big deal to you, but wow is it a big deal for your parents, grandparents, and all the friends and family who have helped you get here.
